Over the past two years Dave Cline has been using this prototype (blue) greatmate stand to great affect both at home and out on tour, with this in mind after a major clear out of my workshop and the dumping of the old table, I took the decision to invest in a greatmate. First impressions are very good, fully adjustable and plenty of scope for attachments to ensure all the tools are at hand, vital at our UK race meetings. For more information on these stands CLICK HERE , plus you could also have a chat with proprietor Adrian Lindley as he will be attending the final championship rounds. |

MB rear
Do you remember what happened to Joe's MB
rear last year.
After its conrod made a brake for freedom, I thought that was the end of that and we give the parts to two local retired engineers (Stuart Robinson and Rob Duckitt), they just wanted to cast their eye over the parts. Look what they did to it, see the photo. We are now looking for a pile of Profi Fi bits to assemble and do the same, can you help. |

28th & 29th June 2008 A big thank you must go out to the BMPRA Wings and Wheels team of Barrie, Joe, Ben, Geb, Dave, Darren, Ollie and Paul (overlander.co.uk). Apart from having great weather all weekend and evening with a couple of beers and a great blues band. We had great success with the stand, with many interested visitors keeping us busy all day long, several showing an interest in having ago and wanting to know more. I'm not sure what Ben (now an A class celebratory) thought about being mobbed on the way back from the flight line by adoring fans! Throughout the day we had people coming up to us thanking us and question our sanity, most saying the pylon models where the best part of the show, in fact one guy told me it was the first thing to excite him in many years. For more info on the events of the weekend see the BMPRA website. |

Big Bruce Racing Following on from the ever trustful EVO, and resent EVO T and SV1 airframes Big Bruce has come up with another new design the SS1. First impression was why, the logic I'm sure must be to make it practical and maintenance frendly, great especially for race meetings with a quick turn round between heats. All we need now is a horizontally apposed twin MB. |

Mark Edgecombe RIP At times life can have some very strange twists, but non as big as this one. A few days a go I was told that Mark Edgecombe (37) had passed away on Monday 3rd December from a heart failure. For those that did not have the privilege to meet Mark, I can tell you that he was one of the nicest lads I've met in pylon racing, always had a smile and was fun to be with. He will be greatly missed not only by his father Paul and family, but by us all in pylon. Funeral will be at 1.45pm Tuesday 18th December at Canley crematorium Coventry. The wake will be at the Bulls Head pub Binley Road Coventry afterwards. Anyone that wishes to attend is most welcome For more information Mark Edgecombe |

New Quickie 500ec Record Barrie's is back, 73.32 a new Q500ec British record. Considering the problems we have been having with the weather affected season Barrie seems to have got straight on the pace with the Bird of Pray, powered Dubb Jett Q500 euro spec, Paul Harvey is coming on nicely with his own designed airframe powered with a Sport40 Dubb Jett, watch out for the soon to come new Q500 spec motor. As for myself, all I can say is lack of preparation, Blown plugs, poor engine runs, then just when I thought I was off the model needed a hole lot of trim. Don't count on this state of affairs for the next meeting. Even Karl Bollan has been seen out test a Jett powered Paul Harvey model, Darren Goldfinchs GRAND CHELEM V2 is nearly there. |

| If you're interested in having ago and looking for a model there is now a number of Kits and ARTFs on the market from under £100, plus a few second hand models for around the same price or you could go for a new all molded model for around the £350 mark. Don't feel that you have to spend £300 plus on an airframe to race, there are regular top end finishers flying Artfs. But I would recommend buying a good engine, your Irvine/OS will be OK but may be worn out a lot quicker than a Jett or Nelson. If you need any help please feel free to get in touch. | |
